CHRONIC DESEASES

Herbal medicine was long regarded as hocus-pocus by science. However, indigenous plant knowledge is now sought after by many researchers, scientists and BIG Pharmaceuticals as the new gold. The mysteries of indigenous medical knowledge have become so captivating that over 100 pharmaceutical companies and Western countries are funding studies on indigenous plant knowledge. Philippine medicinal plants, mostly cultivated by indigenous communities and foreign companies, carry an untold wealth of nutrients, phytochemicals and active ingredients. This point is well emphasized by one of the greatest Philippine botanists, researcher and author Dr. Eduardo Quisumbing, in the introduction of his book Medicinal Plants of the Philippines. He writes:

“Our physicians will do well to keep an open mind and listen with respect to the claims put forth by the humblest herbolario / herbalist. That these claims are not based on empiricism is no valid reason why they should be ignored by physicians, for our original knowledge of recognized, valuable drug-producing plants the world over was almost invariably so derived... The blundering, half –superstitious trials and errors of primitive, uneducated people have given us important drugs as Cinchona for malaria, Digitalis and Strophanthus for heart disease and Quassia as a bitter tonic.

As of 2008, mankind is confronted by 346 generic infectious diseases. An average of three new diseases are described every two years, and a new infecting organism is published every week! Over 1,600 human pathogens have been reported. The medical establishment and drug companies do an excellent job of brainwashing us to believe that only drugs, which come with many side effects, can heal the body. In spite of the fact that modern pharmaceuticals have displaced some of the traditional uses of herbs, 80% of the world population continues to use herbs as their primary means of medical treatment. Many of today’s commercially based medicines are actually derived from very common garden plants. Plants are sophisticated chemical factories, with herbs being full of pharmacological agents. In today’s age, we have lost the freedom to teach and share this knowledge accumulated over the last 5,000 years.

Presently, the Philippines offers approximately ten thousand different species of plants. Studying them extensively can generate a considerable number of plants with distinct medicinal values. Sadly, less than a handful is currently recognized in the standard pharmacopoeias. The Philippines’ remarkably rich medicinal plant resources must contribute to the life and healing of not only 110 million Filipinos, but also the rest of the world.

Our one hundred- acre organic farm at the foot of the pristine, unpolluted mountains of Aborlan, Palawan is the ultimate place to produce organic herbs and botanicals. As member of Biodynamic Association of America*, we fully commit to our responsibility as stewards of this planet, from planting to finished products. All leftover plant materials from production are used as compost. Every weed and plant around the premises of our facility is edible and/or therapeutic.

Our more than thirty years of studies, research, and practice led us to develop a unique and scientifically validated method of growing and manufacturing food and herbal products, from seeds, harvesting, and processing to your hands.
